Acne is not fun. It is uncomfortable, sometimes painful, and embarrassing. Many treatments get rid of regular acne, but few have any effect on blackhead removal.
A blackhead forms because of a blockage in the pore. This is caused by build up of dead skin cells and oil. Blackheads received their name because of their black or brown color. This is caused when the oil trapped in the pore is exposed to oxygen.
The reason people squeeze out blackheads is because once that trapped oil solidifies, there is little else than can be done. You must remove the blackhead and regular face washes will not work.
If you have a blackhead, follow these steps to remove it:
1. Wash your face with your normal cleanser or with a moisturizing cleanser.
2. Wash your hands, paying particular attention to under the fingernails.
3. Place each index finger beside the blackhead, with the nails as close to the blackhead as possible.
4. Gently squeeze your finger tips together, going slowly and steadily.
5. If the blackhead does not come out, you can try using tweezers. This will be a two-person job. One person squeezes as in steps 3-4. The other person will use the tweezers to pull the black spot out of the pore.
6. Once the blackhead is removed from your pore, apply some acne cream to the areas.
Now that the blackhead removal is complete, you should know how to prevent blackheads. Prevention is the key, because the other option is to wait until the blackhead goes away or squeeze them.
Wash your face every day with a gentle cleanser or a cleanser made especially for acne. If this cleanser dries out your face, you can also use a facial moisturizer. Keeping your face clean and moisturized is one of the most important ways to prevent blackheads.
If you wear makeup, make sure you remove your makeup before you go to sleep. It may seem like a chore and it may be easier to remove in the morning, but makeup is the worse cause of pore blockage.
Basically, keep your face clean and free from dirt, oil, makeup and sweat. Wash when you need to do so.
Exfoliating is another great way to remove dead skin cells and dirt from pores, which cause blackheads. If you use this method, do not overdo it. Once or twice a week is sufficient.
Try not to touch your face. Excessive poking, scratching and wiping can stimulate your skin, which make the oil glands more active.
There are some treatments available for blackhead removal that work. They just do not work overnight. Those strips that claim to remove blackheads works, but it is best used on the bridge of the nose, which does not help if you have blackheads in other areas. Acne washes will work, but they can dry out skin and cause more problems.
The best option for blackhead removal is prevention. However, if you find yourself with an ugly black or brown spot, quick removal by squeezing can help. The best way to remove and keep them away is by keeping your face clean and sweat-free.
